The latest feature in my brand photography insight series features a two part brand photoshoot with Susan Martin, an experienced acupuncturist with clinics in Portishead, Clevedon and Somerset. Susan came to me looking for some new brand images that could give her clients an insight into her professional practice and personality. We had a fantastic time putting together a two-part shoot for for Susan's brand that perfectly captured her day-to-day in the clinic - a warm, calm and professional practice, as well as some beautiful imagery outdoors in nature.

Please tell us about your business and where we can find you on social media
I’m Susan Martin, a fertility-trained acupuncturist (The Gold standard of Fertility training with Naava Carman) with over 14 years of clinical experience. I run three clinics in Clevedon, Portishead and at Phoenix Tree Fertility in Highbridge, Somerset, where I support women and couples on their fertility and wellness journeys through acupuncture, nutrition, and holistic care. What were your main reasons to invest in a brand photoshoot?
I wanted my online presence to reflect the quality and atmosphere of my clinics. Professional images help build trust, show potential patients what to expect, and give a strong, consistent identity across my website and social media. I also felt it was important for people to see the real me – approachable, caring, and dedicated – rather than relying on generic stock photos.
What advice/tips would you give to other businesses planning a brand photoshoot?
Plan ahead with a clear idea of the story you want your images to tell. Think about the emotions you want to evoke and how you want potential clients to feel when they see your photos. Choose outfits and props that align with your brand colours and values. Most importantly, relax and enjoy the process, the more natural you feel, the better your photos will be.
Please tell us about your shoot - the location, style of images etc
The shoot took place in my clinic in Clevedon, where I wanted to capture the calming, professional, and nurturing environment I create for my patients. The style was natural, warm, and approachable, with a focus on authenticity, showing both the treatment room itself and relaxed lifestyle images that reflect who I am as a practitioner.
How has your brand photoshoot benefited your business?
The photos have elevated the look and feel of my website and social media, helping me to present my business more professionally. They’ve given me a bank of high-quality images I can use across different platforms, saving time and creating consistency. Most importantly, I’ve had feedback from new clients that the images helped them feel reassured before booking, as they could already get a sense of me and my clinics.
